I thought it was a country inside Oceania, but I keep seeing people saying it's a continent. Then what fucking continent Is new Zealand in :what:.
Has anyone got an actual answer or are the people saying it's a continent retarded

it depends who you ask, but geologically oceania is not a continent its just a landmass, whereas Australia is the continent. a continent is classified as a large continious and distinct landmass which are typically seperated by expanses of water. so australia IS a geological continent, but oceania is a region. " Oceania is generally considered a continent, while mainland Australia is regarded as its continental landmass."

Thatโ€™s like asking if Russia and Turkey are part of Europe, thereโ€™s no consistent answer which I think makes the whole question pointless. So you look at the tectonic plates, which is how Earth is really divided, not by the oceans. Australia and the islands around it are on one tectonic plate.

Australia is both a country and a geological continent. Oceania is not geologically a continent its a region that is labelled as one.

not really, a school with either tell the students australia is the continent or oceania is the continent without clear geological backing

they will avoid being as precise as we are here with this topic to avoid confusion amongst the students, and it depends on the school which one they tell them.
