Is being a lawyer a good career?

Title. imo yes but you won't be making too much early into your career. Like in medicine most of the money you make will be later down the road.

I mean, any job has to suck a little bit. But a lawyer is obviously a good job. You have to do law school, but if you make it through, you'll be rewarded with decent pay.

I just think it's a little overrated. As if you really want to be successful you got to bust your balls. And be kind of slimey; there's a reason why many people dislike layers.

But, yeah, you'll be better off than most water.

Wasn't the golden cash cow it used to be like in 2000s, the competition is a lot and if you are not good at what you do you will stay unemployed but if you do land a role it's usually great.

It realise more on judgment, production experience than raw coding ability alone. AI can write code anyway that's not the issue these days.

Theres an element of luck but if you want to stay in this field. You need to do upskilling have system intuition, and knowing how to build things that actually run reliably at scale.

honestly not sure, like 4/5 of the people close to me that went into big tech literally got laid off in the last 6 months but they were at the obvious ones (Amazon, microsoft, oracle).

you got mfers doing 6 round interviews and being flown out for barely 100k nowadays

thinks like computer use skills imo completely obliterate mcp/native figma chats especially with those astra demos the whole point of generalized ai just makes these ai start up companies so pointless i literally can't think of a single ai start up that will succeed except hardware/training

i think dod is safe for the most part but high paying dod like palantir and anduril are notoriously brutal at this point id rather take an easy job + make my own business. I've been interviewing but im getting a lot of fly out on sites with 5 days in office requirements like i think its over for me

and obviously at this point what are people actually training for in software engineering
