The effects that people attribute to bonesmashing are actually the byproduct of swelling and in the case of the long-term perceived projection in the areas wherein force has been used, fibrosis. That's it really. Nothing more to it than that. Simply the process of scar tissue building up in a place wherein the collagen has been damaged beyond its bandwidth of self-reparation.

As to whether you should do it or not: the negatives outweigh the positives. I'm not talking about localized nerve damage I'm talking about potential damage to your brain. I know a lot of tards repeat the muh "just brace your head durr" thing but that doesn't actually encapsulate the full scope of the damage that is being done absent bracing and the damage done regardless of its presence. You're risking the gradual decay and defusal of the axons in the brain. Your brain is already going through a natural, biological process of continued degradation as time goes on and the more structural and/or functional (I'll get into this in a bit) damage you do to it the more it will be accelerated. Wherein structural damage isn't happening, functional damage could still occur that could be just as debilitating as actual brain damage. This would come from inner ear imbalance which is bound to happen if you're hitting yourself hundreds to thousands of times over a prolonged time-frame, vestibular problems, possible concussions, etc. You'd get dizziness, confusion, a steep and acute drop in your cognitive abilities, and just risking a generally shittier life down the road.

These constitute the worst case scenario. Ask yourself, is the increased likelihood of all this worth uneven and uncoordinated scar tissue that won't actually ascend you if you have a real recession problem? I don't think so. Save up money and get surgery, implants, or whatever else it is that you actually need. As a general principle, the easy way out usually sucks.
