Yes environment has an effect. Tilt your head either up or down, notice how the perceived angle of your canthal tilt changes? Downward growth and recession causes people to tilt their heads up which in turn makes them more likely to look like thay have nct.

In reality almost anyone regardless of genes will have a positive canthal tilt in a chin tuck position, but most people are not capable of doing this without their jaws melting into their neck.
