Is Chimp Lip Post Bimax Sometimes Inevitable?

I saw this guy on reddit after going to doctor Gunson (among the world's best) and he still got that protruding upper lip)



Do you guys think that it's worth the risk of getting a protruding upper lip over being recessed?

He is supposedly still 5.5 weeks, and apparently lips and cheeks take months to resolve, so who knows if this is temporary?

I have no knowledge on Bimax but wondering why choose Bimax over bsso?
And say you will benefit from Lefort too, you seem to have a choice between “staying recessed or having protruding upper lip” so why not do just bsso for recession in your case?

OK, one if I choose to do only lower, I can get about 5mm of movement, which is not enough. I'm getting 5mm on the upper (with slight CCW), which increases the mandible to 10mm of movement.

Remember, your upper jaw limits how much your lower can move. If I only want to get lower, then I need premolar extractions on the mandible which causes a different set of problems.

My upper jaw is mildly recessed, and my lower jaw is severely recessed.

It seems either risk chimp lip or a narrower palate that reduces tongue space.

True. IMO chimp lip doesn’t look bad, but I’m biased because I’m ethnic with a slight chimp lip
