Is cognitive behavioral therapy a better solution than drugs for anxiety and becoming more confident and less overthink everything and shit like that?

Like I’ve been depressed for a very long ass time and I just started cbt and I haven’t seen much but like I feel like it’ll help more than something like propanol or smth like that or beta blockers I’ve tried lexa pro and it did nothing usually I don’t over think convos but when I’m with people like I don’t know at all 8 just overthink everything and like it makes me look so retarted and awkward and I hate it so much and like I just freeze and I end up becoming so self conscious of evrey thing I do like I always have nothing to talk about and it’s so annoying that I’m like this

Are u sure even with a very good therapist are u sure?
Yes, you don't have enough neuroplasticity to undo years of abuse by talking to a ran through college whore who is now reciting advice from a book.

Im pretty young my neurologist said its possible im still 16

Idk u have a point tho

But the therapist I have is supposedly like very highly rated and I only had one appointment and I felt like I could maybe improve but it could also be placebo which would still work even tho

I will give you are genuine answer here. Mark as solution if you think this is good advice. CBT can be helpful if done in certain ways but In combination with pharmacology. Speaking 1on 1 would do virtually nothing but forcing yourself in social situations like public speaking practice clubs, or pubs will help if done in combination with something to make your brain more plastic/ adaptable to the changes in behaviour you are attempting, this is for example an amphetamine or cerebrolycin. In combination with this you should take some sort of social lubricant like ghb, Xanax or something which will lower inhibition. You could practice and take a a protocol for a couple weeks and would probably significantly improve, then coming off the drugs once you have learned behaviours. The issue with this is if you receive more negative reinforcement whilst your brain is more plastic you will be worse off than before.

Thanks for this

I agree

But should I start pharmacology at this age at 16 or is it too early

If you do a little research, are conservative in your dosage and do things safely then this wouldn't be horrible. Try the doctors route and see how it goes, no harm in trying, if it fails, keep this option in mind. There are some good threads on here about using pharmacology for lowering inhib, it discusses dosing and things of that nature.

Yes I have taken pregabalin specifically, it helps a fair bit, I wouldn't say creative for the social lubricants, more so drowsy and relaxed. I haven't taken amphetamines since it is hard to obtain where I am. You could maybe try nicotine pouches like zyns though not as effective for making yourself more adaptable. If you choose to use the Gabba drugs, use them sparingly and infrequently.

Alr thanks but my problem is that let’s say I’m with friends and there are more popular people than me and I say a corny joke and everybody mocks me for it then the rest of the trip I would be sad and overthinking the rest of the day about that one joke and what else I should have said

Like withe sibilings I tend to get more creative

Like it’s my own amygdala turning on and saying don’t say anything or you’ll be made fun of and then I over think evryth8ng and it been like this for a very long time and in a loop constantly

Like I’m more afraid of being mocked or made fun of so I just end up being “nonchalant” and then they would say I’m so bro8ng because I don’t talk and like I hate this problem so much bro

Do u think these pharmacology would end up s9lving this for me?

I did more research and some of it says that its the sub conscious mind doing that and the only solutions are like certain type of therapy and beta blockers but thats so fucking annoying tho like I wish I never had this problem deadass like I hate my life because of it and I know for sure there isnt a real permanent solution to it just temporary stuff
