I found conflicting answers to this shit. Some say it is completely useless others say there is some benefit. Even if I only get a 5% improvement over 10 years compared to if I had not taken it I would obviously do it. Has someone here tried these supplements for a few months preferably one year +? And can anyone recommend one that does not taste like shit? Right now I am only using topical Retin A not sure if there is anything else I absolutely should be using to slow down collagen loss.
it does not have to end like this

To slow down collagen loss, you need to protect the genetic material in your skin. UVA doesn't just mess with your genetic material, causing skin cancer, it also messes with your cells' genes for making the protein called collagen. This is by far the most effective way to stop collagen loss (link). To get a collagen boost here and now, you could do dermapen at a cosmetician, or dermaroller at home if you're comfortable with that, but that doesn't prevent collagen loss in the long term, it'll just give a temporary boost.

If you ingest collagen it's broken down into amino acids in your body and then reassembled as collagen. The bottle neck isn't getting those amino acids, so powder will do nothing for you, neither in the short or long term.

I think it's worth it especially in the long run to prevent aging. There have been a few studies that suggest it can help your skin. retain moisture. There's nothing to lose, no negative side effects and it MAJORLY helps joint health. I take one scoop of vital proteins in tea every morning and it is tasteless. I recommend the vital proteins in the blue bottle. If you are in the US Costco is having a sale this month I believe it's like $22 per jar and its usually $60. Going to stock up but its limit 5 per person.

agree with other posters, if you aren't already using sunscreen and tretinoin it is pointless.

Are there? And does it?

Tretinoin gives a temporary boost. Works as long as you're using it. Just like dermarollers, it doesn't prevent your DNA from getting fucked up, so it doesn't prevent skin aging long term. Tretinoin is treating the symptom, not getting at the cause.

Yes you can watch dr dray video on youtube she lists all of the studies and benefits.

not necessarily. Tretinoin pretty much treats all skin concerns except volume loss. Lets say you use it from age 20-50. anecdotally lets say you have the skin of a 35 year old at 50 years old. if you stop using it you wont all of a sudden age 15 years. Tretinoin slows down aging. Not sure what you mean but yea tretinoin is useless if you arent doing proper sun protection regimen.

When it comes to collagen powder "a lot more evidence is needed" https://www.nytimes.com/2019/11/09/style/self-care/collagen-benefits.html

"Another study measured the amount of collagen present in sun-damaged skin tissue before and after 10-12 months of using a daily Tretinoin cream or a placebo cream. In the group using the placebo cream, skin collagen decreased by 14%, whereas in the Tretinoin treatment group skin collagen formation increased by 80%" https://www.strutyours.com/blog/what-strength-of-tretinoin-cream-is-best-for-wrinkles/

Once you stop using Retin-A, your skin returns to normal https://theskincareedit.com/2016/07/21/retin-a-toxic

It would be interesting to see, a 50 yo with skin of 35 yo stop taking tretonoin. I don't know how that would pan out. Some of the benefit of prolonged tretonoin use is likely that repeated facial expression wrinkles won't form as easily, so such wrinkles wouldn't pop up like you've never used the drug.

It gets unbelievably good results in some before after pictures
