Is completely lying on your resume legit?

Couldn't you just lie on your resume and fake going to university and get away with it?

Surveys show only half of employers routinely verify education credentials. In larger organizations, government, healthcare, finance, IT or any regulated field, still only 70% check.

Theoretically you could just apply to a bunch of jobs faking your resume and eventually a bunch of them won't check and you'll get hired. There's no consequences either of being caught, the employer will just reject you and you lose nothing since you wouldn't have got the job anyway . It's also not illegal at all to lie on your resume.

It honestly seems kinda worth it if you can land a good job without wasting years in education and being $100k+ in debt.

I've found some examples of people getting away with it on Reddit. Has anyone here ever tried this?

You can but it is highly likely that you will get to a limit in your job where the lack of qualification becomes noticeable and youre gonna get fired, also dont know about US fraud laws

For an entry level position they might not check. But from what I understand, any time you advance in the company they re-open and audit your file again. So you would pretty much never move up, even if you bypass the first time. Though there seem to be people who've pulled it off with fake credentials for decades....
