legs mainly if i am correct most of your back muscle just stabilized the movement

its mainly only your spinal erectors getting most of the load done working to straighten your spine on the way up

I think it's more Legs

If I focus more on working back deadlifting I still feel legs being worked a lot

Many judo guys think deadlift is very important for judo and olympic judokas are often strong in deadlifts.

I guess it's a good movement for judo/wrestling type of things

It's a good exercise but there's high risk of injury on your spine if you go really heavy, it's better to wear a belt if you're doing heavy low reps, you need a really strong core to hold all that tension

What is a safer alternative to deadlift?

If you want to train hip extension like in a deadlift back extensions are a good alternative

id do it on a leg day. squeeze ur ass at the end of the rep and ur shoulder blades. that way it will hit both back and legs

With proper form, both.
Shit form = legs only and a damaged back

Mostly legs but also spinal erectors to a moderate extent, upper back really not much at all

When I do DL I lift mostly with my back. I straighten my back while doing it.

Both. I do front/back/legs and i perform it with front day to give front shoulders a more decent recovery.

Mostly back but deadlift is a compound exercise overall just like pull ups and push ups. It mostly focuses on back and hamstrings but it also uses shoulders and arms
