Is Dr. David Bell a good maxillofacial surgeon?

I think I might honestly qualify for his 5 piece BSSO and a 3 piece LeFort-1 — both my jaws are subhumanly recessed and narrow causing disgusting dental crowding on top of horrible sleep apnea. I'm honestly willing to risk it all and get this pricey Frankenstein procedure in the hopes of ascending to normiehood.

Any thoughts on him? Have you seen any of his results &/or botches?

Dr. David Bell used to be a very capable surgeon with stellar reviews during his time at Kaiser. He has been in private practice recently, and his approach has considerably changed since doing so. He has now almost completely adopted the style of Dr. Paul Coceancig, who is currently suspended from medical practice.

I have consulted both surgeons pretty extensively so I'd say I'm the best person on this site to answer your question.

Both of these surgeons focus on the skull, not the face. They want to create chad jaws, with maximum projection and widening. The midline split techniques that they use are not done by any other surgeons. I have seen two results where Dr. Coceancig made absolutely recessed women with no width into extremely good looking women. I did not see any results this dramatic from Dr. Bell.

Ultimately, Dr. Coceancig was suspended for having a series of botches due to his negligence. Dr. Bell is currently involved in a lawsuit where he left some surgical material inside of the patient.

Would I recommend Dr. Bell to anyone?

No. There is one simple reason. Any surgeon who focusses on the skull is not going to give you good aesthetics intentionally. It may come by chance, but that is not something you should be gambling 90k on. Good facial aesthetics do not come from having a chad jaw skeletally. Everything must harmonise with your soft tissue.

These surgeons have immense skill and the stuff they do make other surgeons look like they're in the stone age. But ultimately, none of that matters for optimal facial aesthetics. I would only recommend going with him if you are a genius when it comes to facial aesthetics and can command Dr. Bell to optimise his preferred movements to what you need. However, that is a slippery slope and Dr. Bell says he welcomes feedback but in reality responds to it quite bitterly.

I have seen a very dramatic recessed male result of Dr bell. Life changing. A friend of mine has seen this very same guy in the clinic when he consulted Dr bell and he confirmed he looks great.


I just checked the before after foto again of this case and it really makes me want to consider bell. Dogmaxxing as you guys call it may be an issue with him and the lawsuit in which he forgot something inside a patient I think it's irrelevant.

This is an absolute truecel. It is a massive improvement but something about her looks uncanny now. I can’t tell if it’s because she was dogmaxxed or if she was born that way

Most uncanny face I’ve ever seen. Granted, some of it is swelling.

IMO Just looks like someone who is 10 days post op and first time in her life has some lip support probabaly her face muscles need to adjust or whatever. It doesn't look uncanny to me compared to the before foto with her Goofy long face. She looks much more like an actual human than before.
