classic violence abuse husband wife type shi, tho later on got on some schizo shit and told me he is gonna lock my mom in the basement, we moved shortly after that so no locking in the basement happened

No. Forgive and forget dude. You don't need to give people second chances or keep contact if you forgive them.

You forgive someone to unburden yourself of whatever wrong they did to you. It's why seethers are always bald and forgivers are always chill af

that's insane, maybe forgive if you truly feel like it's beneficial but maybe put up some measures to avoid that from happening again

I should say one thing as well:
Second chances are earned not owed. Just bc you forgive them doesn't mean you owe them any second chances like I said

im not mad at him or something like that, i have no great negative feelings towards him its just that i logically understand he doesnt deserve a second chance and he wont improve my life significantly ig

If you forgive everyone unconditionally that is the highest T trait. Means nothing can hurt you

  • Emotional Regulation – Intelligent people are better at controlling impulses, managing emotions, and avoiding unnecessary conflicts.
  • Perspective-Taking – Understanding another person’s actions, motivations, and flaws requires empathy and cognitive flexibility, which are linked to higher intelligence.
  • Long-Term Thinking – Holding grudges is often counterproductive. Smarter individuals tend to think in terms of long-term benefits, like maintaining relationships and reducing stress.
  • Problem-Solving Skills – Forgiveness often involves finding constructive ways to resolve conflicts instead of engaging in retaliation or prolonged negativity.
  • Self-Reflection – Higher IQ individuals are more likely to analyze situations objectively and recognize their own biases, making it easier to forgive rather than react emotionally.

i mean when looking at this i probably already forgave him in my mind, just didnt give him a second chance, i used to wake up with panic attacks for 1 year straight but now i never have nightmares about him nor his actions, that probably means he is no longer a burden to my mind, tho a second chance would mean meeting him and i dont think there is any benefits to that

sometimes forgiveness can be beneficial self interest due to the cascading positive consequences that it leads to.

Only if you are weaker then them, like if your boss mistreats you and you forgive them then ur a Cuck, but if your little brother messes up and your the bigger man and forgive him then that’s cool, also the amount of times you have forgiven someone is important to take into consideration
