I talked to my mom abt ged
She says she’ll look into it
At the very least i might be able to quit soccer

She says the thing she worries abt the most is me not socializing enough
So i told her that i rly dont like socialization and school has way too much of it
But she’s still worried that i wont socialize at all if i dont go to school which will in turn negatively impact my mental health
Although id say its alr pretty bad

Anyway do u think ged is a good option for me?
I go to a private prep school rn
4.0 gpa yr 9 w one honors course
3.7 gpa yr 10 w 3 honors and ap English (96 class grade + 4 on the exam)
This yr (11) im taking 2 honors and 2 aps (history + english)

Ultimate goal is probably law school and i think id like to major in smth like philosophy, english, history, sociology, political sciences, etc

The path would be to get a ged and take the ap exams as an independent

Whats ged
A GED, which stands for General Educational Development, is a high school equivalency credential awarded after passing a series of four standardized tests in mathematics, reasoning through language arts, social studies, and science. It serves as a widely recognized alternative to a traditional high school diploma, opening doors to opportunities in higher education and employment.

Don’t do anything unorthodox you have a good head on ur shoulders, follow the traditional path, become elite.

Here in brazil it would be a good option because admissions are solely test-score based. No interviews, no curriculum, no motivational letter sttuff

Dunno if thats the case where u live u might wanna check if it hinders applications if unis in your place have application stuff not just test score entry

Why?
Idk how tf im gonna get thru the next 2yrs of going to school like this

Fewer job opportunities and also problem in college admissions also military doens't accept it. Better to just finish school imo. There's no need to rush with all this. You aren't getting hired into a law firm after law school immediately anyway. You need to pass the bar exam of the state

Job opportunities

Most places will require you at least have a GED, 4-year college is unnecessary and getting a degree is a waste of time but GED is important

some employers, internships, and even scholarship committees look at GED differently than a diploma even if they're both considered high school equivalents. Same with college admissions you can get into good colleges with a GED, but it's more of an uphill climb. Admissions officers usually prefer to see a regular transcript because it shows consistency and classroom performance over time. With a GED you'd need really strong AP scores, SAT/ACT, and maybe outside activities to prove the same thing. I don't recommend it if you targetting tier 1 unis like Harvard, Stanford etc @widdi

What type of scores are we looking at?

And which unis would be the best fit for ged

And what would outside activities entail

I was always told the opposite, will definitely have to look into that

Like really strong scores. 1500+ in SATs, acing 4-5 AP classes and strong extra curriculars. You basically need to show that you are some kind of child prodigy or someone who knows what they are going for

I could definitely get 4+ in my aps
Not sure abt 1500 SAT as idk much abt the test yet or how it works

How much would my grades from yr 9 and 10 help, if at all?
And if i got good teacher recommendations, which im very confident i could

Im not quite sure about that man. I never studied or applied to an American uni. You need to ask some Americancel here but this is what I've heard. It's generally not a good idea to get a GED.

Idk about the states, but here in Canada it low key doesn't even matter if you even finished HS or not. You can enter college directly as a mature student (provided that you meet the grade/subject requirements). Then once you obtain any post secondary credentials (whether certificate, diploma, bachelors etc) then your HS diploma becomes irrelevant.

With that been said, I'd probably just stick to your current schooling. Provided that you're able to complete it

Ya that's true, but only if you're trying to enter a top Uni straight outta high school. Many people choose to go to community college few years first and then transfer afterwards. But ofc the Asian/curry parents of Canadstan would prefer the former for their kids :feelshah:
