is getting a spray tan from a machine worth it?

i'm irish and english mix so i burn extremely fast so i never tan in the sun, so i was wondering if going to my local tanning parlour is worth it or will it look bad lmk. I was hesitant to use self applying ones because it takes a lot more effort and can easily be applied wrong.
