Is growth plate closure soley dictated by estrogen levels? Or is there more to it?

sex hormones in general can close growth plates. Testosterone also closes growth plates. However testosterone also triggers some growth at the tsame time. You can minimize estrogen to make your plates open a little longer but they will eventually close no matter how much ais you blast. There are also reasons why having too low estrogen is bad even for males so it can have side efffects

But i thought testoesteone can only indirectly affect GP by aromitizing into estrogen, no?

well yes to a certain extent. Testosterone triggers arotamese but it also triggers IGF-1 (Unsenthysized hgh) and igf-1 itself can cause growth plates to close. IGF-1 and HGH arent the only things that causes a person to be tall. you can have high igf1 and still be short, you can have low igf 1 and be tall.

Very interesting, thank you. Do you have a study source please, couldnt find it.
what other factors cause someone to be tall? How can someone have high igf 1 and hgh and still be short? What is he missing?

Nutrients, Thyroid Hormone (essential af. Also you really cant increase thyroid hormone without invasive therapy), test/estrogen obviously, certain diseases such as kidney disease, liver disease, or celiac, environmental factors such as exposure to certain toxins can hinder growth, and most important of all, simply just GENETICS , its possible to have all of these and STILL not end up tall because ultimately, your dna is what tells your bones to grow, hgh does to a certain extent. Genes can effect how someone would even Use HGH and other hormones, they can also effect your nutrient absorption, metabolism and more

I remember that doctors show episode with the 20 something year old guy who never went through puberty, had undetectable T and E. Yet he grew to like 6'3, but his skull stayed tiny af

So maybe different hormones stimulate facial bone growth vs spine & limb.

What about PTH?
Maybe face is: T, Hgh, igf 1 and body is: thyroxine, hgh, and PTH

So you think teenagers and young adults shouldn't strive to max their igf-1? I always tried to because of its effects on facial bone growth.
