Is HCG really that necessary during a cycle, even in short 16–20 week cycles? And what about longer cycles?

Gonna at least try hoping my parents don't cut my balls off but fr — 3x 16-week cycles, PCT in between, 16 off (or until my HPTA recovers). Is HCG really necessary? Didn't exist back then and people still had kids.
