Is headgear still possible for 14 year old (UK)

Had a dentist appointment and dentist talked about how i would need braces since ive got a cross bite, my next dentist appointment is in 6 months, and in 6 months time ill be 14yrs and 2 months old so im curious because ive also got a recessed maxilla as to wether or not it would fix when i get braces and it would push its self forward or not. Some shit happened where the refferal number or something got lost idk so that might delay me getting braces i think. ive had the xray where you gotta bite down on that stick and then the machine goes round like a year ago

im not even fully sure whats gonna go on with the braces what braces im getting but will my dentist give me headgear or do i need to ask for that myself
will nhs even cover it or do i need to do it privately
