Is hypergamy due to survival instincts and biology beside stupidity?

I'm not talking about the extreme cases where whales wanna date 6'6 chadlites, but usually when I'm on holiday or in the streets I don't see that big gap people talk about, I'm not denying it's not there, but logically in nature for most species the male version is superior due to survival needs and is called the predator for a reason, more strength, faster, bigger, their body is "designed" in a way that's supportive for their lifestyle (hunting other animals, staying out of trouble or being capable of winning when needed) while women and the female version of that same animal is usually far more weaker, less intimidating, cannot survive on its own in some cases and therefore has to be more selective when choosing a partner since it is a matter of life and death if they chose to be alongside a weak one which cannot provide total safety. Little bit weird to say, but I think women are still the prey versions of humans (water) and cannot be as ignorant as a male when looking for a partner, ideally as a female I'd also want to date a tall mf who looks scarry, has a good face, little bit carries my genes and makes me feel like I'm not a bum without him.

it may be, not sure totally, because as girls say on tiktok, wattpad and reddit sometimes grown women are together with niggas out of their league but still seem happy, as if it's really true love and it is about personality (I'm not here to cope, but yh I'd also spend the rest of my life with a ltn who makes me laugh rather than a mtn who would scare me from time to time or even beat the hell out of my soul) after some failed relationships (oofy doofy shit) and just hang in there because of the safety they feel with them
