At first I thought only some people had it but the more I look the more i realize it's very common. It's ofc common with older adult as the bone naturally recedes but it's also very apparent in people with chronic allergies for some reason.
There is also the hyperpigmentation side most commonly seen in people of Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and South Asian backgrounds are genetically more prone to hyperpigmentation under the eyes. Even if their bone structure isn't heavily recessed, the darker skin tone creates a more powerful visual illusion of deeper recession and shadows.
You also have the fact that we don't eat as much tough and fibrous food anymore, the modern diets consist of pretty soft food so there isn't mechanical stress on the maxilla or upper jaw which directly support the lower eye area leading to recession.
Add on to that genetic traits or poor development due to malnutrition and you get blessed with with a facial trait that makes everybody say " You look tired"
This is a regroupment of stuff I have noticed or researched because I have it and its a very common issue and people commonly notice it as the eye area is the first thing a person looks at in your face and can def make or break people.
(Also not sure wherever mouth breathing has an impact on infraorbital i think it could because you will def end up with a recessed midface that will theoretically only worsen your under eye area)
