It's made up, but it holds a purpose, and is pretty accurate at measuring pattern recognition and logical reasoning.

Measuring intelligence is an impossible reach for the human being. IQ tests are just a very, VERY far approximation to intelligence patterns and development depending on what the test is about.

Intelligence encompasses millions of subjects. That's why a ""60 IQ"" brazilian or african kid makes a """170 IQ""" genius look like a dumb freak with his snot hanging from his nose after he has robbed his sandwich in school.
