Is it better to hold the lower jaw (mandible) forward or down?

Can't decide where to hold my lower jaw. I've read that both are beautiful, but which is more? A more forward or a longer mandible? Don't want to jut in both directions, as that would be too much and unnatural. Which direction would you pick?

Difficult to understand where that is sometimes, though. Seems to find a new relaxed position, if held long enough. It probably drops and retrudes in that case, if I try to totally relax, giving vertical dimension, but less forward.

Both can be relaxed. But can be exaggerated as well while taking photos. So which direction to choose?
