I’ve been searching for the past few weeks for a job (I’m going to apply in November because for an entire week in October im going to away from my house) is it that bad as they say it is? I assumed it was just crackheads that have criminal records who say immigrants take all the jobs

I’m happy with any wage I only want to save up before I move out in 6 months

no lol the market is cooked and this country has no future

if you know someone, then that’s the best way to actually get a job

but if you’re applying, for every typical retail/fast food/service -type job there is someone twice your age with years of experience applying to the same role
its brutal

Jesus, I live in the midlands so I’m slightly more confident in getting a job at retail, at one of the big tescos I saw a worker with one hand

They aren’t wrong in that migration is the reason for these kinds of jobs becoming impossible to get

They aren’t taking actual desirable careers but there is an abundance of 40 year old migrants willing to work the minimum wage jobs that would have once went to teenagers. Its why we have a NEET crisis.

If you have experience or a degree or qualifications you can get work through that but the typical “low skilled” entry level jobs are unattainable to most school leavers in many areas

They’ll work for nothing and need the money, and a minimum wage job here provides them with more than they’d ever get back home

Yeah I’ve seen aswell uni students not even be able to get jobs too, only reason I’m not going uni is because of how much debt and the job market at this state, pls someone do world war 3…. It’s extremely annoying when all the jobs I can actually do are so far away, you mentioned it earlier about knowing someone to get a job and my friend got a job today (hard asf tho, 200 a day but waking up at 4 am and travelling across England, it’s some trade)

I wouldn’t worry about uni debt, its not a true “debt” and it isn’t like in america

Basically you get taxed 9% on earnings over something like £28k a year (grad average is just under £30k so you basically pay nothing every year)

If you earn 60k you pay 9% on the top 32k so thats only a £3k tax a year on your earnings that comes out before you even get it

Not ideal and the interest will mean that you’ll likely pay that tax for 40 years until the debt expires or you earn enough to pay it off fully, , but you pay nothing if you don’t earn enough and there’s no risk of losing assets, its basically just an income tax

Although if you do get a degree, make sure its a high ROI one at a good university.

Practically impossible unless your getting it through someone you know

Oh that actually seems decent, it’s too late in my life to go university and my only qualification is animal care… pay is absolutely awful so I’ll just have it at the side; I didn’t study in school so I missed out doing the level 3 immediately, currently studying for a qualification that I saw on indeed pays around 40k a year

Oh fair, good luck with it

Its a shame though how a lot of people go through school miseducated about how student loans work here and don’t go for that reason

How old are you? I’m friends with a dude who started at 24 and he’s doing good tbh
40k a year definitely isn’t bad for a qualification, just make sure its legit

I’m currently 17, I’m moving out of my place and moving so further down in around 6 month time since I have a okayish amount of money coming to me soon but enough for a deposit for rent; the only issue I’ve found is how little jobs they’re are available; in the summer there was two opening when I first started and one was up to 60k on indeed

I’m Lucky somehow I live in a shithole area full of druggies, I’ve been in London twice and I never wanna be there again, fucking beggars for money and so many people
