If you can genuinely desire to be hated, reviled even, by the general population you'll ironically begin to draw people of all sorts towards yourself.

I know because that's always been a natural desire for me. I want to be hated.

Without a reputation proceeding myself I'm free to move to a new place, get a new job, and immediately be loved or hated by most around me. I'm equally comfortable with either sentiment towards myself residing in those who I deal with on a day to day basis. In small groups or with a large circle of acquaintances.
