I'm not talking about fat in general. You don't need a lot of dietary fat, and you should largely avoid it if you want to lose body fat. I'm talking specifically about essential fatty acids. Omega 3 and 6. The one to worry about is omega 3. If you have trouble getting it through the diet, you can get fish oil or flaxseed oil straight from your local grocery or drug store so you can supplement directly.
