I feel like ever since I started caring about height so much it feels like I’m seeing way more taller people than often and I don’t live in some super tall country I live in australia.

Many people think people are much taller than them until they stand right next to them, you always perceive people at least a few inches taller than they actually are, add some insecurity on top of that u feel like a midget 24/7. Read the r/tall sub and see how many people don't even realize that they are "tall", if you are 5'10 in a country where the average is 5'11 you will probably feel like everyone is 6'2. The most height insecure guy I know personally is 6'1 and he constantly talked about how he wants to be 6'3, funnily enough everyone thought he was 6'3 and called him tall, mind is a strange thing indeed.
