Is it needy to block a girl from Instagram

That is a girl I used to watch all stories in Instagram for two years and contacted her multiple times....all the while she was seeing somebody else and tried her hardest to get his attention (even liking his pics of 4 years ago), meanwhile she replied at my text after 2-3 days and didn't even wish me happy birthday after all I did for her.

Should I block her? I'm afraid if I block her I give her validation, because she thinks I love her and need to forget her. A much better strategy would be completely ignoring her but that too may be too direct considering that I've been following all her stories for years....
