Is it normal to have a wide palate as a kid and a narrower as an adult?

I was looking my childhood album of pictures and i noticed my palate was really wide when i was like 3-4 yo
I used to smile really wide like this retard emoji and wouldn't have any side gaps, so all my smile was full

Is there a study or theory, something about it?
