Some people say only the amount of calories matter, and other say to many carbs will bloat your face even when you are in a calorie deficit.

I think if you eat a lot of sugar and salt you will look bloated as well. Not sure tho

When you have any significant amount of carbohydrate in your body, you consume it and deposit fat.
If you deprive your body of carbohydrate, it will switch fuel sources and start burning fat and make you leaner.

Depends on how you retain weight. Have seen high carb people with lean faces at good body fat % while others ate better and had puffy face syndrome at same bodyfat %.

carbs bloat me like fuck personally, i only consume over 150 if im bulking

obviously other factors like body fat % are way more important however (this will be influenced by carb intake among other nutritional factors)

best way to find out is by trying different intake levels and see to what degree the gains are worth the bloat

I cant eat more than 130/140g of protein without extreme farting and stomach cramps
 
Carbs bloat my stomach a bit but no face bloat, only thing that bloats my face is sodium

to debloat my face I just eat/drink stuff with potassium and exercise and then all the bloat disappears

Water retention affects people differently, for example I have little water retention in face but if I get it then the water retains a lot in my belly and arms

You're right but the difference is you can't not eat fat because it is necessary for survival while carbohydrate is the single macronutrient that isn't at all needed for living. The minimal amount of carbs required to live is literally 0.

That is not true at all. Muscles Burn depending on the time of usage and what kind of muscle they are fat or carbohydrates Independent on the amount of carbohydrates you have in your body.

Muscles work by using ATP. It’s what makes the muscle contract. Every muscle works like that. Now that ATP will be used up over time. Our body has to regenerate that ATP.
That ATP can be generated via carbohydrates or Fats. If your exercise is longer than 30 minutes your cell converts fat into ATP. If it’s below that you convert carbohydrates into ATP.

and to OPs question. Yes it’s absolutely possible to have a lean face with eating carbs. Have you never seen a person with a lean face ? I’m guessing so. And they all eat carbohydrates. It’s not something magical you discovered. Everybody eats them.

personally tho I feel like sugar bloats me. No scientific backup just personal experience. And I eat a ton of carbs. Barely fats.

I've seen bloodworks of people who lose weight on fat-absent diets and they always had a drastic drop in testosterone levels due to very low cholesterol. While people with just calorie deficit didn't have such problems and still could lose fat

Glycogen is stored with a disproportionate amount of water, generally the body regulates glycogen fairly well (even without any carbs in the diet it can produce all the glycogen it needs in short time) but if you eat a lot of carbs this excess of glycogen storage will lead to bloating around the body. Stomach bloating in particular is more to do with carbs digesting poorly.
