It's gonna take a lot of your day. Either way be super picky with what books you choose to read. Anybody can write books these days and they take up a lot of your time compared to other forms of media. The point of books isn't to learn but to learn deep within whatever area you are reading.

Reading consistent is good enough imo. I read about 60 pages a day and more sometimes and that way I just finished the rainbow in 8 days and thats a 500 page long book.

If youre gonan read literature, read the older, established classics. They are way more interesting than you may expect and this way you will have read stuff worth reading as opposed to something that was only popular for a few years.

If youre gonna read anything else like history or finance make sure to do as much research on the author as possible. Finance especially is full of liars that make more money from book sales than their own supposed money skills.

You're better off going to college and networking until your face turns blue. What you know isn't nearly as important as who you know.

over for non NT men, or at least those who are shy asf.
it's over for me, i'll just try to find an ok job with ok salary. networking is too much for my super sensitivity.

I did speedread self improvement books (good ones like Digital Minimalism or The Compound Effect).

Basically treat them like a long magazine. Read what matters, and if something seems repetitive or obvious, skip it.

Just make sure to have a pencil to outline the key points (I read them in ebook format so I could just highlight)

Im just reading several books related to trading/finance at the moment. Im pretty sure the more books I read relating to this topic would aid me in my career and trading in general. I feel like I learned more in reading one book then I did an entire semester at Uni.

Im also readng several other books realating philsophy etc (The Prince, Beyond Good and Evil-Nietzsche) on the side. Its pretty interesting to read to be honest even though it wont really help me with my career. Yea, Most of the misc stuff im reading is pretty much old literature. History seems pretty interesting to read but its too time consuming and less interesting compared to. Nonfiction mostly I.E. history, politics, philosophy seems to improve your mind and make you sort of smarter overall. I kind of wish I binge read when I was under 10 years old to be honest hence why Im binge reading at the moment to make up esepcailly since world is in lockdown at the moment.

Philosophy is underrated and for good reason. On the outside it doesnt do shit but the more you spend time reading you will have a more mature mind. By this I mean you will be able to make sense of the world and it's chaos better. This way you won't be manipulated or scared easily. Reading philosophy will turn you into an individual.

I suggest you start with the ancient greeks and some ancient history from the beginning of the bronze age to the conquests of alexander the great. By this point in time europe wasn't really a thing in terms of a cultural region and instead you had the Mediterranean. Read about the ancient sumerians and hitites and whatnot. The first empires and all those things. This sets the contex of the "classical" world.

From then on you should read both european and middle eastern philosophical works. The belief that the "classics" are only for the europeans is entirely naive. Any history or philosophy academic knows this and will only say otherwise if they have a political motive. Especially before the muslim conquests, the entire Mediterranean was in the same intellectual paradigm. After the muslim conquests the same classics were adopted by the muslims. Really, if I were to summarise the european cutural base it would be the marrige of the biblical texts with the classical works. Similarly the middle eastern cutural base is the marrige of the quranic texts with the classical works. The fundemental philosophical differences between these two regions of the world is suprisingly small.

The philosophers of the muslim golden age are important. Here you will find a lot of the ideas that were reborn in europe way later, during the age of enlightenment. One common example is the floating man argument or Ibn Sina and the "I think therefore I am" Descartes. This is worthwhile because during this period most of the classical works that the west loves are translated and preserved. Many more commentaries on these works are also written during this period. You will be suprised with what you find. This goes against the mainstream european narrative because then it would mean that the pure blood europeans have had help from the barbarian m*slims.

From then on you should slowly shift your focus to the renaissance. Really amazing people are to be found here. Still however, most of the intellectual and even economic activity in the "west" is really in the medeterranian during this period. The italian states come to midn first. Some personalities from the ottomam empire are worth reading too but at this point you should shift your attention to continental europe more. The period of political might of the middle east, for example by the ottomans is also the beginning of the slowing down of the intellectual activities compared to its past. This also corresponds to the exploration of the new world by europe and the emergence of protestantism.

After that you will have the enlightenment and have a better undertanding of europe and the middle east than 99% of the people and will hopefully see that things arent as clear cut as they are made out to be. The beginning of the current european identity is to be traced back to the 18th century. By now, europe is the master of the world politically.

It's up to you how much of this you wannna read. It's a lot of work but in my opinion definitely worth it. Within a few years you will be getting idea of the past 8000 years. Either way I thought you might have found this useful as a very condensed and broad guide.

Depends on the context
A small book for kids? Yes
Fuck me in the ass daddy? No
