is it shallow of me to want to lookmax so I can love myself?

i always see posts about how people "learnt to love themselves for themselves rather than external stuff" and I've just been feeling real shallow and demotivated ever since. because it makes me feel like I'll never learn to "truly love myself" if I'm improving my looks to do so.

can anyone help out. just need other opinions to help me get my mind straight.
