Is it true that most of the danger of cigarettes comes from the plastic filter?

I read that before the filter was added cancer rates from smoking where significancy lower. So is removing the filter off of an American spirit and smoking it filterless the most natural/ best experience? American spirit lists ingredients as only tobacco. Ive been doing this lately and i have to say the taste is much better, and surpusingly i feel less discomfort in my throat… also each hit i feel more nicotine so i dont have to smoke just as much as 1/3 of an american spirit black gives me a serious buzz.
