is it weird sitting next to people in class when youre not part of their social circle?

i caught the train home with a fellow ricecel the other day. he hangs out with the only other asian in class (have 3 classes with these 2) who lives in the next street but walks home quickly to avoid me. the last time i caught the train home with someone they ghosted me the whole term and pretended to forget my name.
