Is it wrong if I front squat without tilting my arms all the way back?

I have just learned the proper form looks like this:

Whereas I was squating with a regular overhead press type of hold:

Is this bad?
 
How do you expect to squat any serious weight holding the bar like that? At least use the cross arm technique if the bar is choking you.

I am not planning on squatting big weights. I am all about injury prevention. I also put part of the weight onto a weight vest.

Both those reasons are why I transitioned to front squats. The weights with back squat were getting too heavy and I had some butt wink action in my back squat which led to injuries.
