This happens to almost every patient. some study said 80 % but I would say it is even more.

i believe it's more dangerous by far than a BSSO.
The surgeon of my friend talked about it, and how much bsso is less dangerous.

When i consulted with Dr defranqc he made it sound so simple "a few cuts and the jaw pops off" "done 5000 of these" the overall demeanour was that it was simple. I have seen the videos it does look brutal but I am more concerned with actual risks.

Usually you'll only get fucked up nerves, which you won't have on average with a pure bsso, and will likely never have with a genio.

I have heard of at least two patients with serious complications after a Le Fort 1. One went blind of one eye. Other one died.

But considering that from time to time a child dies during a tonsillectomy... or crossing a street.

A patient told me about this and another forum during a consultation. I saw a lot of information that was inaccurate and needed to be corrected... I started writing into the forum to correct that and help people with really bad ideas regarding their treatment plans. Shorty after that I found in it a potential source of patients and advertisement And shortly after that just for fun when bored in front of the computer or with insomnia.

It’s never happened to me

Just wondering, I looked through the first abstract and the cases resulting in blindness seemed to be from the "high" Lefort 1 osteotomy. The image below is what I usually see associated with the different cut and it seems to be much more invasive (seems to run very close to the alveolar nerves). Is this a complication that is less likely with a more typical Lefort 1 cut (even with CCW movement)? The second links describes injuries to the cranial bones to be causative of blindness. Is there a way to predict risk of this before hand (ie would a
"syndrome" type patient be predisposed to this) or is this mostly at the hands of the surgeon?

Seriously? I thought that the top palate is responsible for different tastes in the mouth. Is it almost sure that you will lose sensitivity over there? Is advancement of the lower maxilla or impaction in CCW rotation more dangerous in the sense of causing nerve problems? And does the length of advancement play a role? That shit got me a bit anxious.

Until now I haven found any patient complaining of that, but if you ask them or you explore them you find those figures.

So I suppose it is not such a big deal.
