Well prison is inherently stressful

Everyday you're faced with the fact that your decisions put you there for life plus the guards beating your ass and giving you garbage slop in a dark room

Maybe if bhuddist monks live in isolation it's better idk

I think it probably depends almost entirely on how you feel and your limbic responses to it

If it really makes you feel less lonely then it helps. But there are people with friends in LTRs who legit feel lonely and suffer

Loneliness is no the same as being alone. You could be alone for 90% of your time, and not be lonely.

being alone in your room with indefinite time to indulgence yourself in self soothing behavior is not bad at all, you will not feel like shit

being lonely in a party, or any public setting where you just watch people socialize whilst yourself being unable to however will spike your cortisol

being alone and being lonely is not the same thing
