Is masseter hypertrophy during puberty harmful?

I'm 16 and I wanna train my masseters to get a wider jaw, but I've heard some people say that doing so can prevent bone growth that happens during puberty. Is this true?

I've been chewing hard gum almost daily for 1 year and have gone from having a slim face to a ultra wide giga mogger wideness, I probably have the widest face in my school (very close to graduating). and my gonions have gone from turning inwards, to becoming semi neutral (almost there - big improvement nonetheless). but obviously it made me look fat, but I don't care I'm bulking anyways and I can just beard fraud, and if I didn't bulk and consume cow gelatin I would of barely had any progress. whoever is telling you it prevents bone growth is trolling hard.
