Is mewing and jaw exercise legit?

I've heard a lot about mewing and jaw exercise for awhile now, but always thought it was just some meme tier trend. Is that stuff actually legit?

I watched some video a few years ago about how having your tongue on the roof of your mouth and not mouth breathing improves facial aesthetics, so I always am always conscious of these these things, but never really looked into mewing itself. Never did anything related to jaw exercise though.

Obviously mewing won't change your eyes, hair, nose, cheekbone shape or face, which is what really matters.
