I made a thread a few days back asking users to choose their ideal mouth shape out of 5 different mouth areas. These were the final results;

As you can see mouth 1 ,3 and 4 were chosen the most with mouth 5 getting 0 votes and 2 being the widest mouth in the split up by far; getting only 4 votes. This basically confirms my theory that mouth shape, colour and texture are more important than width :
Of course to confirm this theory I had to make real photo manipulations and see how it pans out :
Here are the results:
Mouth to nose ratio - 1.2
Mouth to nose ratio -1.8:
I think it’s an improvement, albeit not a massive one.
Here’s another result on a non animated human:

Mouth to nose -1.8:
Clear descension imo as his relatively narrow jaw and prettyboy aesthetic is better suited for smaller mouth widths.
Another one , this time on a PSL God known for his great mouth area and width :

I think this thread is the final nail in the coffin that mouth width apart from microstomia is almost irrelevant and plays very little role in facial aesthetics, imo mouth width expansion should be attempted only for literal Anus mouth users and that after you hit nose to mouth of 1.3 there’s very little changes in psl by going up to 1.5 or beyond .
Let’s see what users have been doing the past year In hopes of increasing mouth width

Thousands down the drain for palate expansion in the hopes that it increases mouth width but in the meantime also increases alar base width and facial width beyond what may be considered aesthetic. Even @Korea agrees with me on the fact that MSE is pure shit.
Facial flex/microstomia prevention splits
As the name suggests this should only be used by actual microstomia ( Anus mouth) sufferers and not people who want to increase mouth size to maximum dimorphic ( let’s face it mouth width is dimorphic; but dimorphism isn’t necessarily more attractive all the time) levels. Users here who tried it have reported nasolabial folds( death) ,vermilion scarring etc.
As I had postulated earlier mouth width is more nuanced than “bigger is better”(

and even a modicum of PSL increase it may provide if expanded to ideal ratios aren’t worth the risks and cost( MSE instead of a well done rhino? Really?)
But let’s say your mouth width actually looks subhuman to you and you feel you want to expand it? I have no problems with this unless you are not completely leaned out. Being fat just like it affects many other ratios and perceived metrics like IPD /PFL etc. also affects perceived mouth width. And try as you might to look at mouth in relation to nose , you will ultimately compare your mouth only w relation to your face.

On Mouth Width
I have a theory the wider your jaw the wider your mouth needs to be ; and the higher the zygo to jaw ratio means a wide mouth won’t suit youfor eg orb or chico/Lorenzo. Salludon and O pry for eg have a wide jaw and relatively narrow mouths and imo it failoes them a bit : People like...
