I got an internship at a small startup as a software engineer thanks to a bit of nepotism (my friend’s dad vouched for me). That internship eventually turned into a remote job, which has been going well so far. I heard that they’ve started relocating some remote employees to their new office in the UK. I doubt I’ll be one of them anytime soon since I’ve only been working with them for a few months, and I’m still finishing university, but maybe after I graduate and if I stick around long enough that may happen.

I’m in Italy, but I’ve been seriously considering the idea of moving to London at some point, maybe in 2.5 years once I graduate. Aside from the benefits like the possibility of a raise, and getting to be in a country, I believe that London has a stronger entrepreneurial scene than here, specially around tech. I enjoy the benefits of employment now, but I've been thinking of starting to build my own products soon, and maybe London can make that process easier.

Is it worth it??

London honestly not too bad, rent isn't cheap though. As long as you avoid the majority ethnic ghetto areas you'd be good

London is a shithole, and last time I went was in 2019 on a 9th grade high school trip (I'm from rural Germany). I was honestly in awe at the sheer amount of Indians and Blacks there. With the Boris wave (of immigrants) it probably got astronomically worse

In Italy? It's not that I couldn't get a job, I did, but it was working as a waiter lol, then a friend's dad offered me doing some stuff since I was a software engineer, then he referenced me to some British guy looking for developers for an internship so I can improve my curriculum and I ended up with the remote job like that.

Yeah bro take the leap. White collar jobs here are crazy competitive and all the rich people will push you way harder to succeed trust me cuz everyone's always launching new startups and running it up. It's great for networking and progressing in life, as long as you don't end up with the wrong people

Yeah, move to London and then you would really appreciate your current wfh arrangement, not having to bump into pajeets left right and centre. Oh, and get ready to share a flat if you don't want to give your whole income to a landlord.

If I had a remote job I'd be in some little shack somewhere in a 3rd world country with a back up power source to keep the Wi-Fi on. Wouldn't be where I'm at now and sure as hell wouldn't be in a place like London.

Oh I didn't even notice, I originally wanted to title the post "the UK" but decided to be more specific and didn't read the title properly :lul:
