well everyone's case is different but if u've got a recessed jaw chances are u probably got a shit narrow palate aswell so you're probably a candidate for one, though idk if u can convince ur parents to get one lol.
ive been begging my parents for braces since i was 12 now im gonna be turning 18 in a year and those niggers still havent done shit so good luck

I got it for health reasons. Firstly, it does usually lead to asymmetry. Secondly, results are not particularly stable with most MSE providers, who do not prioritize retention.
It definitely does not improve your looks in most cases.

It is definitely a hardmax though.

That does not guarantee symmetric results though. For myself, around 70% of the larger facial half expanded.

Do go for MSE if your upper jaw is significantly narrower than your mandible or if you have sleep apnea, that relates to a narrow palate.
Not for facial aesthetics- way better options available for that.
