Is MSE/FME worth it if you’re not that narrow?

I’m trying to figure out if getting MSE or FME is actually worth it for facial/aesthetic benefits when you’re not clearly deficient.


I went to an orthodontist and my intermolar width is 40.5 mm, so I’m not really narrow or recessed. That’s what’s making me question it, would expansion even do much, or would the changes be pretty minor?

I’ve also thought about pairing it with reverse headgear, but that’s a pretty big time commitment. At that point I’m wondering if it makes more sense to just save my money instead of chasing small gains.

So I’m kinda stuck between trying MSE/FME, doing nothing, or just saving up for something like double jaw surgery if I actually want a noticeable change.

Anyone been in a similar spot and felt like expansion was actually worth it?

another thing ive seen is people getting double surgery just to not look much better. If i paid 30-70k for djs and looked marginally better id be pissed tbh

djs is 10k btw, and no its not worth it unless your ortho reccomends

Im from america. Based off that price im assuming youre from Europe. Its almost impossible to find djs for thats much in america. Avg low priice is like 20k. If you wannt a top doctor it can be near 100k

no, getting mse just for facial aesthetics considering ur palate is no where near narrow, under 35mm. Could ruin how your face looks a lot
Reverse headgear works if ur under 13 at most, check bone age too, if ur 13 and bone age is above 13 it won’t work, gotta be less than ur actual age
