Is MSE worth it for aesthetics?

READ THIS BEFORE RESPONDING:
I know MSE has many issues but there is the new FME expander which is said to be way better, little to no asymmetry, practically zero facial lengthening, and I heard it will widen your cheekbones and stuff even more... Many palate expansion horror stories are also from OVEREXPANSION which I will avoid!!

That being said, is it worth it to get an FME expander to widen your upper jaw if your upper jaw was meant to grow way wider but didn't? I had a retainer on my upper jaw for about half my life, I'm almost 20, as a result I can tell and see that my upper palate is narrower than my lower jaw, my tongue can't fit on the roof of my mouth, I have sleep issues. Ideally the upper jaw is apparently supposed to be about 5mm wider than my lower jaw.

Is a conservative FME expansion (of about 4-6mm) worth it for purely aesthetic gain? To widen my upper jaw closer to what it was supposed to be? Which would in turn make my narrow face wider, give me a wider smile, and also give me better sleep and maybe help with TMJ.

my palate was supposed to be a good bit wider though, wouldn't growing it to its natural/genetic potential more ascend me? its narrower than my lower jaw

In that case, you are a candidate, but i wouldn't hope for aesthetic benefit

I've seen a shit ton of palate expander results (mse/marpe/others) where they actually descended hard from it. It seems unpredictable in what aesthetic outcome you'll receive which is scary af.

it doesnt widen ur jaw, it'll widen your upper jaw/palate/cheekbones though

yeah i think hes right, as long as you get rhino if necessary after you should ascend

It widens your maxilla not your mandible (btw mse literally stands for maxilla skeletal expander).

In theory this should lead you to have a more balanced harmonious appearance because that would de-emphasize your lower jaw to some degree. I don't know if you're aware but these kinds of procedures can also lead to increased lateral projection of the cheekbones.

But don't fall too in love with the idea of it... On paper MSE sounds like a no-brainer, but if you look at before/afters you'll see a lot of things can go wrong. I'm still trying to gain a deeper understanding why there's so much variation in results. Feel free to DM me if you want to discuss further
