Is my orthodontist scamming me?

I have an deep bite and a narrow palate i think, and he told me we r gonna fix this by widening my palate ( i think, don’t remember completely) and braces which have like rubber bands or sum connected to my other teeth in the back which is supposed to pull my jaw forward? Is this nha coping? Ill be 17 in 5 months bro
