So maxillary downgraft lefort 1 without any advancements whatsoeverdoes increase gonial angle, as well as nose length. Lot of sources claim that it also makes nose more flared outwards but I don’t know for sure.

Further insight shall be appreciated on the matter.

How would lefort 1 change gonial angle? I thought le fort 1 was lower maxilla only.

Because when you downgraft the maxilla face height increases.
The mandible compensates for the change in face structure

Ahh i see it would rotate clockwise. And when you say it would make the nose more flared outwards, are you talking nasolabial angle? Cuz i’m pretty sure it gets reduced by lefort 1

I have read about it that Downgrafting does cause alar base widening. I’ve also heard about alar cinch sutures which supposedly prevents the widening of alar base

Yea i think some of that is due to the upper lip area advancing even without explicit advancement of the maxilla. Prolly depends on the case though. Mirin the iq btw

I’m looking into this right now as I am thinking of getting a downgraft lefort 1 but my gonial angle is already too obtuse. Did u ever find a way to counter the increased angle?

So when you downgraft the maxilla, angle will change a bit because now when you touch the teeth together the contact of the teeth is on a lower plane.
Think of it this way:
Open your mouth just a bit now You imagine your upper teeth being lower down so that the teeth make contact
