is negative orbital vector caused from a recessed maxilla, or can you have it without being recessed?

need help understanding if NOV is caused by a recessed maxilla or can it be present without being recessed or abit of both?

@Allornothing do you know anything about this?

you can have it without being recessed and you can have positive orbital vector with recessed maxilla

so it isn’t connected and they don’t influence one another?

it's completely unrelated, some people are severely recessed yet have super positive orbitals, others are super forward grown and have negative vector (opry has this)

Usually maxillary projection is measured with respect to the lower maxilla (nose corner). The more forward that is, the more forward growth potential your upper maxilla has. Flat lower maxilla means your upper maxilla will be recessed too obviously. Other than that they're unrelated.

if you get lefort 1 is that going to affect upper maxilla as well?

It can be but depends on a lot of factors, the side of my face thats more recessed also has worse orbital vector. If someone is 100% properly grown they wont have negative orbital vector though.

one side of my face is more recessed than the other and has more negitive orbital vector aswell

any way to fix or is it too late past development?
maybe not fully fixable without surgery (unsure) but most likely can be helped a bit. its linked to other body imbalances so check if you have a tilted pelvis, anterior pelvic tilt, one feet pointing outwards more than the other, etc. if u do then its probably due to a tilted sphenoid.

i have a bit of a NOV but its not caused by reccesed maxilla, a great example would be David Gandy, he doesnt have the most reccesed infraorbital rim but he has some type of NOV.

it will improve your undereye support but it’s not a magical one size fits all solution, you’ll still have a NOV it will just be less obvious
