Have been looking into nutrition regarding protein recently, many carnivore enthusiasts tend to hate on whey for messing up insulin and the amount of 'fillers' they have in them. The amino acid profile of protein powder seems to contain more of the '9 key amino acids' compared to protein sourced from beef. Is protein powder really as bad as they say or is it the most cost effective protein source with the best protein to calorie ratio?

I don't think it's necessarily a carnivore cope. First of all, no matter how good a protein powder is, it still lacks a lot of essential micronutrients. Meat, on the other hand, has better bioavailability (since it offers a more balanced amino acid profile), stimulates satiety hormones more effectively, and is more thermogenic, meaning it burns more calories during digestion, which clearly makes it a superior protein source.

It's perfectly fine to use protein powder as a meal replacement now and then, it’s quick and helps you meet your daily protein needs, but I don’t think it should be used too frequently.
