As of now, I just can't get my hands on stronger retinoids, so I was wondering if weaker OTC retinoids like retinal are still worth it.

Don't know where to buy it (but I suppose I could find a place if I actually look for one), the problem are my parents. I'm moving out in a couple months but till then I want to at least be doing something

if you really want to get stronger retinoids you can look either here https://skinorac.org/ or here https://www.alldaychemist.com/ you should probably start with something like adapalene until you can progress onto anything stronger like tret or taz , honestly retinol is kind of useless which is why no one ever really uses it

not retinol, retinal. About 11x stronger than retinol (ofc still nothing compared to tret or taz but still) and only has one conversion step to retinoic acid.

i read it wrong sorry , its still less potent than even adapalene but if you really cant get anything stronger right now you might as well use something so your skin can better adapt to retinoids once you use stronger stuff so go for it
