From what I remember, John Goldtrhope recommended:

Father's and mother's income, nutrition, father's and mother's level of education, grandparents' level of education. Family composition, family social class, place of birth, urbanization, country's level of development, father's and mother's type of work, etc.

Some of these are combined to generate reliable estimates. There was a model, whose name I can't remember now, that combined variables to measure the level of education that could be achieved.

IQ as a predictor is mediocre. And on its own, it is not useful. IQ as a variable is prone to high multicollinearity, is biased, and varies greatly when other variables are included.

I never made claims as to its efficacy. I only stated what its statistically normalized objective is. Being good at that objectives an entirely separate distinction.

I don't think you know much about statistics.

If a variable is ineffective for making an estimate, then the estimate is useless. That's why estimators such as the p-value exist, to measure the probability that your variables would randomly lead to the estimated value. If p is low, it means your variables are incorrect or insignificant.

The fact that a variable is normalised does not mean much statistically. Normalisation implies that the mode and median are equal, but these can be altered depending on the observations selected.

IQ as a variable considers nothing more than test results. It does not consider the other variables I mentioned to you, which are used by international organisations and recognised as valid measures of educational attainment.
