Is tanning a looksmin in ethnic countries?

Generally ppl say that wypipo look better when they're tanned, but I don't think that applies to countries where the majority of ppl are non-white/mixed tbqh

In LATAM, SEA, EA, among other regions of the world, some locals crave to look as pale as possible, so I really don't know if being tanned would be a looksmaxxing or looksminning for wypipo in those places.

Also, the argument that being tanned is a sign of wealth because it shows that the person has leisure time to go to the beach and shit simply doesn't apply to tropical countries

Here in Brazil there are poor people who are naturally tanned since they get exposed to the sun and shit 24/7 because of their work, literally have never seen someone consider a tanned skin a sign of wealth here.
