Is the average height really 6 ft in Europe?

Someone told me I would be "short" in Germany because I'm under 6 ft, but I find this hard to believe. While I'm certain the younger generations have more taller people than before, it hasn't skewed the height ratio that much. I believe the average height would still be between 5'10-5'11 range, which is what I am. Please tell me different.

I don't see how it can be. The average male height worldwide is 5'8. I would assume the tallest average in the "taller" countries around be 5'11.
