Is the iq pill real? How important is iq in everyday life, how much does it impact your wellbeing. Also, is iq the right term to use when discussing this topic? Do we need to come up with a better metric?

to an extent it is real, iq is not the only measure of intelligence. successful people generally have at least above average iq

IQpill is real but its more about how you apply it

Plenty of people with high IQ accomplish nothing cause they overthink their whole life

water is wet, grass is green, sky is blue.

iqpill is definitely real having lower iq usually means less problem solving ability/pattern recognition and low iq typically presents itself as inability to do more advanced math (struggling in trigonometry, calc 1) or trouble grasping simple concepts/emotionally reacting to situations instead of thinking logically
from experience with dumb people

yeah. arguably, higher IQ isn't always better for success in life as one would expect. the most successful people in the world usually have an iq around 115-145 usually around 130, which is the minimum to be considered "gifted" (2 standard deviations above the mean)

people well above this are just super autistic, not relatable, socially weird, and outcasted

i study medicine at an asian country and yeah iq really changes the game but again it depends on how you use it. You can be an completely nerd or you can be someone who can have high influence and social skills

Obviously wtf do you think the average burger in borderline sped classes is gonna have the mental complexity of someone like Isaac newton, however modern society is braindead and someone with good social intelligence and charisma will go way farther than someone with high IQ

I have a high IQ and it hasn't helped me all that much

I'm smart but I still have ADHD and executive dysfunction issues

Being smart is still better than being stupid tho :lul:

it also depends how your IQ was tested, and not every high IQ person is proficient in numerical reasoning and reading comprehension, it can express itself in a variety of ways and often find that people will be more proficient in one over the other

i think a general rule of thumb for everything is that, yes at the extremes it will be extreme. but will having 100iq instead of 110, or even 125 really change your life in a meaningful way? If yes, is there data to back this up

yeah i am also in a similar boat with an IQ of 133 and ADHD. i had to teach myself to stop thinking and take action manually as opposed to running simulations in my head in a loop forever

100 vs 110 isn't a massive difference in life tbh but id say the difference between 100 and 125 is quite substantial, esp in childhood development which pretty much sets your course for life

i mean you can look up studies if you want lol i'm just giving you my own personal experience. when i was a child they had a gifted program in our school system and everyone got tested around 1st-3rd grade if they were recommended for it by a teacher. they separated us from the "regular" kids classes, being with other gifted students instead. we attended gifted meetings and such from elementary through highschool. honestly? it makes sense, because my friends from gifted in elementary are still my friends today. we were all just "different" than the other kids growing up.

i think allowing excuses for dumb people in society (voting rights for all, removing tests from classroom curriculum, etc.) is very harmful and will only make people dumber as time goes on
(i do agree with equal treatment for all, but important issues such as giving everyone voting rights has only set us back as a society because of the outliers on the lower end)

sometimes my professors have the most retarded grading systems ever that make it easy for the low iq kids who show up to class but punish the smarter people who write better/are better at math who slack off because they don't need to pay attention

my ex would literally act like an animal in prey when she had to do any kind of thinking. it was so miserable to deal with her that i had to break it off even though she was loyal. she would go into fight or flight when presented with basic algebra instead of actually trying to reason out the problem and use her brain, which i think is a very good example of this

life isn't supposed to be fair, and by making it fair for all society is doomed

definitely agree, i am very good with pattern recognition and such but my memory and social intelligence are pretty weak
